I <3 KC
Happy birthday, Kansas City! Today my home turns 163! It’s a really big week for birthdays, but more on that later, for twenty eight of my (almost) thirty one years I have called Kansas City home. I love this place. I love it wholeheartedly and zealously, I speak about KC with the passion often reserved for cities like New York. The mix of midwestern kindness, tech innovation, expanding food scene, and sports mania makes Kansas City the perfect home for me.
Last week, thanks to my good friends at the KC Aviation Department, I was lucky enough to attend the VisitKC Annual Meeting themed Elevate KC. From the moment I stepped into the convention center it was easy to feel well...elevated. The meeting kicked off with performances Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey and lunch served family style from locally sourced ingredients. One of the first things guests were asked to do is share via Twitter how they #ElevateKC, a quick scan of the hashtag showed me things big and small people are doing to make KC a better place every day. It warmed my heart. It continues to warm my heart. If you also love Kansas City I suggest checking out #ElevateKC for some great sound bytes from the meeting.
I walked out of the convention center with a reinvigorated love of and pride in my hometown. I’ll spend some time and posts sharing that love with you. Stay tuned…
